New Midtown ferry route to IKEA Brooklyn
« on: July 04, 2021, 06:06:18 PM »
The IKEA Brooklyn ferry is back in service and they now have one going from Midtown, at W 39th and 11th. This is on weekends only https://www.nywaterway.com/ikea.aspx

Despite having to go much further to the IKEA Brooklyn, I still think it's a better bet than the small one in Queens.

Yeah, but that location is pretty useless for us. Might as well just sit on the F, or take LIRR to Hicksville, if you don't have a car.

Maybe useless for you. Depends on whether you enjoy ferries, I guess. I personally enjoy ferries, and bonus points for free ferries. The 7 train goes to 34th and 11th Ave, and the Midtown ferry location is 39th and 11th.

If you don't like ferries, then be my guest and sit on the F train for 45 minutes, and then when you get off the F, still have to wait for a shuttle bus or walk 20 minutes to get to IKEA. The ferry, on the other hand, goes directly to IKEA.

https://www.nywaterway.com/ikea.aspx

As of now, the link seems to be broken and it was connected to a youtube video.

Anyway, I was able to find the schedule (see attached)

The ferry doesn't run as frequently as trains/buses, there are only six trips each day from Midtown. The ferry trip by itself is another 45 minutes. It could be an option for someone to enjoy the ferry, but it is definitely not for someone who doesn't have much time for traveling.

The link is working last I checked a few minutes ago. https://www.nywaterway.com/ikea.aspx

No one is forcing anyone to take the ferry to IKEA! I thought it would be a nice thing to post here. Guess I was wrong. All I see are people arguing against it. OK, point taken.

I agree that ferries in NYC in summer are amazing

Please don't let a few folks who can't find joy in simple pleasures dissuade you from posting cool stuff.

I thank you for letting me know about the free ferry returning. And I look forward to the ride.
