« on: January 09, 2021, 09:22:22 PM »
A SuperFresh grocery store is opening @ Northern/ 79th.  A bit surprised with
Mi Tierra so close by.

I noticed the other day that the Key Food on Baxter (over by the new Chipotle/Chick-Fil-A) is now a SuperFresh.  The layout is quite a bit nicer, but at quick glance, the prices seemed a little higher.

The KeyFood I just mentioned may have been a FoodTown.  Everything keeps changing......I can't keep 'em straight anymore.  In any case, it's a SuperFresh now.

Just saw that the former Walgreens site on Northern and 79th is becoming a Superfresh Supermarket.  Has anyone had experience or have feedback on this chain?

I checked Yelp reviews of the existing ones (I think Bay Ridge had the most reviews) and the reviews are not good. People complaining about expired foods and fish and meat smelling like bleach. https://www.yelp.com/biz/superfresh-supermarket-brooklyn-2?start=60

I will keep making my runs to Trader Joe's until we manage to get a decent market around here. Actually, the Trader Joe's in LIC is supposed to open in 2021, so that will make things a bit easier, although still not really convenient.

Moderator note: there were two threads on this topic; both were merged into this one.

exactly. Superfresh is to Key Food what Food Dynasty is to Trade Fair.

RE Trader Joe’s.  FYI.. I sent their corporate website a suggestion to open a store where the now-closed Modells is in the parking lot of Cannelle.

I think Food Dynasty is also a Key Food brand. Like Food Universe and many other Queens supermarkets.

Probably Food Universe's lease precludes allowing another supermarket tenant in the shopping center.

I don't understand how people can still be complaining about the supposed lack of good grocery stores in the 80s. We have amazing green grocers, great butchers like Boina Roja, a bodega on every other corner for basics, the natural market on 84, and Mi Tierra.

I shopped there today, wide aisles, very organized; & some products I haven't seen in other JH groceries. I think it's a good addition to the neighborhood,  & lucky for me, a less than 10min walk.
