Covid testing at Travers Park - Nov. 9-13
« on: November 09, 2020, 02:34:54 PM »
There will be a mobile Covid testing unit at Travers Park this week --- Nov. 9-13, 10am-4pm. First come, first served, but hopefully the wait times won't be horrible.

Check out this link and scroll down a bit to find the info:
https://www1.nyc.gov/site/coronavirus/get-tested/covid-19-testing.page

On a side note, I used the Dept of Health center on Junction for a rapid test and it was a very good experience. Made an appointment, was in and out in 15-20 minutes, and received my results within a few hours.

Be well, all!

Genius ... let’s have covid positive people congregate And wait in the single most people dense part of the neighborhood.  What could go wrong?

Perhaps an alternative light an empty parking lot (Waffle House, cvs, ect) would have been a smarter idea.

let's meet at the nearest Waffle House -- although i prefer our local In 'n' Out Burger.

NYC is around 2% positivity right now, which means 98 people out of 100 tested are negative. The line is outdoors. And I would imagine that all sites that do testing that don't require appointments have a line of some sort. So having it in a park outdoors actually makes sense.

One of the main ideas is to get more people to test; I don't think that's easily achieved if you stick the testing site in an empty parking lot. No one would go.

I've passed several City MD sites in the past few days in Manhattan that had lines of at least 10-15 people outside on the sidewalk, and I imagine at least some were waiting for Covid tests. People are lined up outdoors everywhere getting tested for Covid. That's how our world works right now.

We've used the testing site on Northern Blvd and 51st big center is said to be the busiest in the city - over 700 some days!- for a few months now. Lines go fast and the workers have it down. Just keep walking past 69th street for another 5-7 blocks and then left on Broadway maybe 3 blocks.
Great social distancing too. Highly recommend.

Just went over to Travers Park Covid testing.  Still no line at 12:15, easy peasy, took no time at all.
