Thai Bar in Elmhurst - Pata Paplean
« on: October 20, 2020, 06:20:31 PM »
We've discussed Pata Paplean a few times before, but we've never had a dedicated thread on it.

Chopsticks and Marrow could spin off an entire blog dedicated to this little Elmhurst Thai bar with the tasty noodles (see here and here and here)

Today, they're in the NY Times: The Blood-Broth Noodles at Pata Paplean Are Elusive No More

Happy to see this endearing got featured, but not sure if the locals are keen on fighting for a seat from at their watering hole with added attention.

I was there Friday night. It was pretty empty.

and, to be honest, NYT readers still seem terrified of traveling oh-so-deep into Queens. i've had these fears for years when seeing local places profiled - from Esquina de Camaron to Nepali Bhanccha Ghar -- and noticing no sharp uptick in non-locals.

Guess Birria Landia is an exception.

lines were super long there before reviews circulated, much like the Arepa Lady's cart, but yes.
