i wish more of the open restaurants would maintain the mandated distance between tables. i've seen a couple where chairs from different tables are actually touching, back to back.

Somehow sitting in the street on 37 Ave, in traffic, with the fumes and the possibility of being hit by a car doesn't appeal to me. I will continue with take out.

I took a nice stroll this evening in a big loop along 37th, 90th, Roosevelt, and 74th.  It was a delight to see all of the outdoor dining and socializing.   I haven't seen 37th Avenue this vibrant since the World Cup!

Reopening NYC: Queens Restaurants + Street Vendors Weigh In

The Eat Your World Blog

We’ve all heard about the struggles of restaurants, in New York City and elsewhere, but what about the ones we know and love in our own neighborhoods? It’s a question that’s weighed on me, as the few I’ve been in touch with personally in Jackson Heights have expressed many struggles over the course of the pandemic. A lot of the businesses here in our part of Queens are small and immigrant-owned, compounding the difficulty of obtaining financial aid. So in recent weeks I’ve spoken or emailed with a few restaurant and street cart owners in Queens to ask: How has it been for you these past few months, and what does “reopening” look like to you?

I was just reading about the new Open Restaurant streets, and was absolutely delighted to see that that one is going to Thai Community USA (no idea what that is, actually). Anyway, Woodside Ave between 76th and 78th will be closed to traffic (and open for expanded dining) Fri-Sun evenings.
