I appreciate your frustration but withholding rent may leave you in a tough spot legally. Have you reached out to the management to express your concerns? Surely, doing dusty work during a pandemic of respiratory illness is poor judgment. You may also call 311, as skimcoating and painting possibly aren't essential activities.
But yeah, even if it's legal, it's really poor judgment.
Other have emailed me that they have been communicating with the Super and Management for months.
Legally, at this time, withholding rent is allowed.
I called the mgmt office twice and left messages. They never called back. I sent them 2 emails and they were rejected.
I filed a complaint with the city. The Super lied that they were only painting. The city said it was essential work.
I emailed the super, he could not care less.
The co-op owners want the basement finished and their little gym opened.
Since the building went co-op management and the Super have been harassing the renters. They want us out.
The laundry room will be closed all day for 2 months. So, it becomes crowded at night. I got sneezed on the last time I went there at night. The Super came to talk about how much water was in the machines. This was more important to him, rather than keeping a safe distance.
There has been dust everywhere for over 5 years, during the renovations. They continue to make dust during this pandemic. It is just pure greed.
