Winter desserts
« on: November 29, 2019, 05:54:27 PM »
When I visited Colombia a few years ago during December, I had the pleasure of trying natilla, which I believe is a Colombian Christmas custard. I just passed by the Colombian bakery on 37th between 83rd and 84th and they have a sign that they are now carrying it.

Any other neighborhood winter desserts or drinks we should know about? :)

Ecuadorian Morocho is usually served year round, but is popular here during the cold weather months. Similar to rice pudding in appearance, Morocho is made with hominy corn instead of rice. It also has a thinner texture, and when served nice and hot, is comforting on cold mornings. I've seen it sold at some of the Roosevelt Ave Ecuadorean food trucks.
