EARLY VOTING 2019

EARLY VOTING.  I received a mailer from The Board of Elections.  It has a notice on it that says “New Yorkers can Vote Early or on Election Day!”
In opening the mailer, it lists 3 ways to vote:
1) Vote early at your assigned early voting poll site (mine is NY Hall of Science @ 4701 111th St, Corona)
2) Vote on Election Day ay your poll site,
3) or vote by absentee ballot if you qualify.

The early voting starts 10/26 - 11/3.

People didn't seem to yawn over the DA race earlier this year, if you recall.

People didn't seem to yawn over the DA race earlier this year, if you recall.

Well, that was exciting. The machine candidate won, though, so I'm sure she will have her machine turn out just enough votes to win without most of us having to do much. That's what machines are for, after all - running things without citizen participation!

if all of the borough's republicans teamed up, their candidate could crack 30 percent. bootstraps. et cetera.

Well it looks like most of JH is being sent to the Hall of Science for early voting. Sadly that's really only at all convenient if you drive a car. I wonder if there's a way to encourage a more useful option for the 2020 elections. Does anyone have any idea how to suggest this to the right people?

I voted on my way home last night. I took the 7 train a few extra stops, walked 5 minutes from the station, voted, and took the train home. It only cut about 30 minutes into my evening.

they could manage a couple more early voting stations in this part of queens, but i agree that it's worth the time investment for something as important as voting.

Depends where you live. I've been assigned to First Baptist Church Of East Elmhurst 100-10 Astoria Boulevard which is served by the Q49. As for the Hall of Science, you can take the E or F to 71st Continental and take the Q23  to 49th Ave and 108th St then walk over.
The minimum number of early polling sites is set by the law. I would think they would only increase the number of sites if turnout were high. The inconvenience of the current locations will probably mean turnout will be low.
Let your local elected officials know that we want Early Voting in JH and let them start earning their pay.

 Voting was going at a nice clip at our polling station. Not crowded but not empty either...and am feeling optimistic that people see the need to have their voices heard and votes counted.

the Renaissance school was really odd. our district (39/46) had a line of 25 or so people, a wait of 15 minutes, due to the new iPad registration. but there were only two or three people total at the other two voting stations while i was there.
