Point taken, but it would be nice to at least see some steps toward improvement at Farine.

It's kind of surprising--the owner has run a similar store before. You would think he'd be able to get it to run more smoothly. I hope it works out--it's a really nice addition to the neighborhood.

I've given up on them.

Have gone on at least 5 times.  The line never moves, people behind the counter have no idea what to do.

Left each time after just doing nothing.

My experience has been completely different!  I went on Friday afternoon to finally try the chicken sandwich and it was ready within ten minutes. I have found them to be much more efficient than in the first couple of weeks.

Chicken sandwich review:  Delicious, but too spicy for me (I don't love sriracha but wanted to try it the way it was designed). They offer a non-spicy version, which I will get next time. There will definitely be a next time.

my experience has mirrored Lilybell's... been at least a dozen times, always to carry out, and had one problem (a charge for a pastry i didn't get). always polite, a bit scattered, some bumps in the road, but nothing even remotely resembling a deal-breaker.

I haven't had any bad experiences there with the service lately (past two weeks). The few times I've gone recently, I've stood in line for a reasonable amount of time (I actually like the fact there's a line -- it means the place is most likely going to survive and thrive). I've gotten my order correctly and within a normal time frame. And the baked goods are delicious! I haven't tried the desserts yet. I think the counter service is better now than when they first opened. During the first few weeks, I did encounter some deer in the headlights looks from the staff when I ordered.

My wife and I returned to Farine this past weekend and had a positive experience after staying away for a few weeks. Cashier greeted us in a friendly manner and got our pastries quickly (there was one group of people ahead of us being helped by someone else).

Has anyone here tried ordering a cake or a pie in advance? If you could share your experience here I'd appreciate it.

They might seem to me all about the sweets—and their baked goods and pastry items ARE stunning—but they’re really stepping it up on the savory front as well.   Went in today and tried their breakfast sandwich. I’m not a croissant fan and asked if they would serve it instead on one of their Balthazar baguettes. No problem. And very tasty. My wife had the quinoa and salmon bowl. Great as well.  And the staff couldn’t be more friendly and accommodating. Farine Baking Company is a great new addition to the neighborhood and I hope they do well.

 I also hope they do well and the busy look when I pass by seems to bode well for that. I didn't like the confusion at the counter
but my objection here is different. I compare them locally to Canelles, which for me, is a standard of excellence. The Farine breakfast pastries are 2/3 the size and not quite as delectable- close but not there- and don't want to buy two of something when the other place sells one of more satisfying size. The baked goods that I have had from Farine are tasty but I still think Canelle's beats them for quality, value and great reliability. We have not had a single unsatisfactory item or experience from them(Canelle's) in all these years.

 And absolutely love Lety's for other more specific things...

So isn't it great that we have three places to choose from. Cannelle is great, but a bit out of the way. Farine is also excellent and more convenient for me. Lety's, as you say, is a great option for specific things like cheesecake, and great cappuccinos. The fact that I have 7 or 8 great Thai choices doesn't confuse or upset me. If I'm in the mood, I'll go to Thailand Center Point. Other times, I might hit Ayada. Surely we're not complaining about having lots of delicious options.

I went a few weeks ago, ordered mixed fruit tart for $6.00. When I got it home, it was so soggy which meant that it was not fresh. So disappointed.Had one at Cannelle, $3.50 for same size and was super fresh, crust was crispy.So disappointed, their prices are too high.

they do make a good fruit tart at Cannelle (and i also like Farine's), but Cannelle charges $4.75, not $3.50. i had to check to be sure, because it's been a few months since i walked up that way.

will have to check it out someday, but the slew of fake reviews on yelp are off putting. every one a rave...and every one from someone who signed up just to review this place. maybe if one actual person weighs in....
