El Rico Tinto Gone
« on: September 21, 2018, 04:10:45 PM »
Walking home today, i saw the gate down and got a bad feeling -- which was confirmed by a "seized by city marshall" sign plastered on the door. hoping it's a setback, not a death knell.

Hoping it's something temporary, too. I walked by earlier, and it was open for business.  There were a few of their regulars seated as well.

This makes me very sad.  This place was a gem.   One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood.

I am reaching out to Victor, the owner. Going to find out what’s going on and if there is anything we can do as a communtiy to help. Anyone down to join me if there is something we can do to help?

Here's my fantasy: El Rico Tinto and the Arepa Lady form a partnership and share the old City Coffee space.

I'm sure it's not realistic, but I'd rather see one great, profitable Colombian restaurant than two great, beloved Colombian restaurants that can't meet rent.

Yes, absolutely. I don't know what happened to them so please keep us updated. I'd love to have it back, it's a great restaurant.

I would also like to help bring ERT back.  Love that place and love the people working there. It makes me sooo sad they are not there anymore. Same thing with the vegetable and fruit place :(

I'm so sad that they are gone. I'd love to know the full story. Both ERT and Growing Farm were shuttered without notice overnight. That's not just being chased out by the landlord. Was there any warning? How much did the rent go up? Or was there a refusal to continue the lease to these tenants? Who is the landlord, and did he just inherit the buildings?

I'd be happy to support both of these favorite establishments.
