Papa's Kitchen will be located on 83rd Street, off 37th Ave. It appears that they were forced to move from Woodside to Jackson Heights due to a rent increase.

It's opening in a storefront that used to be a fabric store. (Was curious, just walked by to check.)

So then I wonder what is going into the restaurant space right next to Sompong Thai

Hmmm, maybe I remembered the address incorrectly when I did my walk-by. Definitely makes more sense for them to take over an existing restaurant space. But that space is not big enough for the 50 seats and  bar mentioned in article. It's a block away from me so I'll definitely be checking it out as soon as it opens.

Yep, I misremembered the address--it's going into the restaurant space next to Sompang Thai--the awning is up. I remember that restaurant as being tiny, but my memory is clearly not to be trusted.

I never went inside that restaurant, but you're right, from the outside it did not look large enough to seat 50 diners and also have a bar.

They're open.  No license yet according to sign posted on the door but I think I saw a bottle of whiskey on a table.  BYOB?  The food looks great!  can't wait to try it. Anybody with early reviews?

We stopped by this pass weekend.

We ordered a few items, we especially enjoyed the kare kare (pork in peanut sauce) and the spring rolls were good.

Owners are friendly, but be prepare to have to sing karaoke if it's a slow night.
