Had a slice there today.
Bland sauce.
More corn meal than in an arepa;  fell all over the plate and table.
Too crisp to fold properly.

We ordered for the first time last night: one slice pizza, chicken parmigiana with rigatoni and marinara sauce, and house salad. Delicious! In my opinion, as good or maybe better than Sac's, and lower-priced. I went in to order and the place was full--I never patronized Mario's when it was there, but this place seems like a big step up in quality, reflected by how busy it is. And I'm glad they offer dishes other than pizza, since I rarely eat pizza.

So coincidental you posted this.  I don't eat pizza often but  returned to Mamma Rosa's yesterday which was just my second time.  I have to say the same.  In terms of pizza , I  think they have the best in Jackson Heights.  I love the thin crispy crust and the topping, simple but better than usual quality. I found the pizza uninspiring at best. It's not horrible, but it's no where close to Sac's. The only advantage is that there more meat options in slices for those who want them. Granted I haven't tried their pasta dishes yet.

Pizza is always a healthier debate than politics -- but just as feisty, at times.

for the record, i like Mamma Rosa, but prefer Sac's (and Louie's for Sicilian).

Did they improve on delivery--a few weeks ago they took well over an hour to deliver a pizza that arrived cold. In the store, I enjoyed the pizza slice at Mamma Rosa's, but for now my favorite in the neighborhood is the margharita pizza (Mama's old-fashioned) at Sac's and they always deliver fast (I am only 3 blocks).

Sac's is the best for my tastes, too. Dom's ingredients are higher quality and it is apparent in each bite in that you can actually taste the food group. It's hard to explain, but if someone regularly eats salt and grease they won't appreciate the plainness of natural foods. It would be bland for them.

I sound like a food elitist here, but I'm not really 'cause I am not all that into food. It was my early-in-life exposure to pizza in Italy that I can say with confidence that grease is not supposed to drip off the slice (or cracker!).

Glad we are having choices now, though.

I agree Sac's and Louie's are better. I would put it in the second tier along with Gianni's and Pizza Sam on Northern.

I live closer to Sacs but have to say it's worth the walk to Mamma Rosa. I find the service at Sacs  as well as their pizza to be  inconsistent.  I love Mamma Rosa  for their consistency, and hands down, better pizza. Excellent crust that doesn't get lost in the cheese and the sauce. It is my new "go to" for not only for pizza but for their food as well.

i'm glad to have another option, mostly. and Mamma Rosa is the closest for us, which makes the slice drop-in easier. I prefer Sac's in general, but the crust at Mamma Rosa is very nice and i think they get a good balance of cheese to sauce. not too gloppy, which really ruins a slice for me.

Thumbs up to the spaghetti and meatballs and the ziti. The broccoli rabe side is a bit salty but portion size was generous. Mamma Rosa's is a nice place to sit and eat.

We don't eat pizza often but love the thin crust pies at Los Amigos on Northern Boulevard.

Good to have a healthy pizza debate.  Tried Los Amigos Margarita pizza last night--ingredients were fresh and tasty, but you have to be in mood for the very thin (cracker-like) crust.  Also, it doesn't travel too well and needed to be re-heated by the time i arrived home in 5 minutes...  I guess depending on what I am craving, I would go back for Los Amigos or Mama Rosa's--but overall Sac's is my preferred choice in JH so far.

Anyone know if they change owner recently? Or they just change their pizza style, like back to Mario's.

Ordered a pie last Friday was totally different than before, the crust is not the cornmeal anymore (which I just start to like), the one now is like the typical one and the pizza is really dry. This was same a month ago when I order a plain slice, though they were just off that day.
