It's the best Euro-style bakery in the area...clean, organized and delicious.

It's a bit slow but I think it's an Euro thing.   :D

I love their sandwiches and you can have a pedicure done while you are having your Late at Angel tips...LOL

They have the cutest muffins I've seen (but, I don't go out that often, what do I know?   :-\

I love Vinoth, he is like a movie star

who's that?  I've been to Cannelle's twice this week and only saw three gals behind the counter?
First, do no harm.

Downright incredibly delicious!  :smitten:  You savor the dark chocolate ganache, moist cake and the sweetness of the raspberry.

Give yourself a holiday present and try the Creole Cake.  Out of the world!!!   :smitten:

There's a brief item on Cannelle Pastisserie on the New Yorker's blog
Very cool, we already know how good it is!

Based on people's recommendations, I tried the Creole cake this weekend.  Silly me, I was expecting something spiced up like Jambalaya (!), but it's just a cake with layers of mousse.  I was much relieved and happy.

A while back, I saw some kind of "royal cake" (or the equivalent in French) there, wearing a crown.  Does anybody know what that is?

Just to be clear: the cake was wearing the crown, I was not.

Could have been king cake? I know there's a Mardi Gras tradition with that....

There's also something called Royal icing, which is that smooth white icing that's pretty stiff, that you get on wedding cakes and the like....

I knew I recognized the photo of Cannelle Patisserie's macarons au chocolat on the Winter 2009 issue of Edible Queens.  I got a copy this morning at Espresso 77!

The Winter issue has a nice and in depth article on Cannelle, its owners and its diverse staff.  However, one line from the article made me chuckle.  There's a paragraph explaining how the two pastry chefs, Jean Claude Perennou and Samba Sabaratnam never expected their business to be as successful as it is, and upon opening the shop, their main focus was to be on wholesale rather than retail.  Well, it seems that the retail part has taken off so they don't have much time to promote wholesale business.

Here's the line from the article:

"Two years later, Cannelle's retail business is so busy, they haven't had time to drum up much wholesale business, except for the Park Slope Food Co-op (eat our cake Brooklyn!)."

Love the creole cake which is a lovely mousse cake decorated with thin squares of chocolate adorned with gold! The red velvet cake is also not only beautiful but tasty!  It's wonderful to finally have a superior bakery in the area.
