New Chinese Food Courts in Elmhurst
« on: May 05, 2018, 02:38:21 PM »
There’s nothing online yet but I saw a post on Instagram about one of the restaurants in it called “Shanghai King.” Looks great. I’m going to check it out tonight or tomorrow and will report back.

Would love to have a food court like the ones in Flushing closer to us.

Do we really need so many food courts?

If we are talking about the Manhattan/Brooklyn food courts that sell fried chicken sandwiches for $12-15, then I'm inclined to agree with you -- Enough already!

But I make a (big) exception for a Flushing-style food court opening within walking distance.

I'm with you too Dodger.

The food halls in Flushing have really stepped up their game with the type of regional foods that you may not get otherwise since retail rates through the city are so high for some business, and street food stands are not like they are in say Thailand or Taiwan.

I want more food courts!  But not the typical Panda-express type ones, more like the ones in Flushing. There's an interesting new food court (I guess food hall would be a more accurate name since it's not attached to a mall) near my office in Lower Manhattan that has an array of non-chain restaurants. I've noticed more of this type of consolidation lately in a few areas and I'm a fan.

There is one entry on Yelp about the food court. https://www.yelp.com/biz/new-golden-sparkling-food-court-elmhurst  And a few other entries if you search the listed restaurant names.

I have been there. It is next to the Asian supermarket on Broadway about a block north of Queens Blvd.

There are about 5 vendors. This is something like the newer food courts that are around Flushing. Dumplings, noodle bowls, roast duck, steam tables - everything familiar. Looks decent, not AMAZING. Good option if you are in the area for something quick.

It's amazing. So far I have tried liang pi wang (the liang pi noodles) and Xinjiang House (the big tray chicken).

This weekend I am going back to try Khao Ka Moo which is supposed to be fantastic
