That's too bad about the samosa.  I rarely order them from anywhere because they are generally greasy or they taste like they've been sitting around.   However, the last time I ordered from Mehfil, my friend wanted samosas so we ordered them.  They were great -the dough was light and they weren't greasy at all.  I guess it depends on timing and luck.

I love their paneer makhani.  It's the best I've had in the neighborhood.

Just want to add to this thread, that Mehfil's brunch is the freshest, tastiest Indian brunch I've had in the neighborhood, hands-down. It still puzzles me why certain JH restaurants (not to be named here) have such a stellar reputation among Manhattanites, when to my opinion they only run in the middle of the pack.

I had the Malai Kofta last night and it was delicious!  (Still is.. I'm eating some leftovers right now).

What do they serve for brunch?  Different than the regular menu?

Had dinner here last night.  At 5pm we were the only two in the place.  Felt so bad for them so I over ordered.... just kidding.  I always over order so I can have take-home.

Food was DELICIOUS as usual.  Wanted to suggest, for those meat eaters:  Chicken Malai Kebab.  O M G.  Delicious, grilled chicken on a hot dish over sizzling onions and peppers.  Chicken is marinated and so darn tender and tasty and not spicy for those people who don't like spicy.  YUM MMY.

Had the Chicken Korma also and it was creamy and delish.  Plus always get their spinach.  It had lemon grass shavings on top last night which I don't remember from last time.  Again, so tasty.

I really hope they don't close due to lack of business.  Jeff, you should have the next dinner group there.  I can't remember if you've eaten there yet but it's great food.

They seem to be doing a jumping delivery/take out bidness, so I don't know that I would worry too much about them closing. But yeah, it's a nice hang for dinner. Maybe when it gets warmer, more folks will go out rather than stay in...

I stopped in for take-out last Friday (I was long overdue to try them out) and have to say everything was excellent. I will be ordering from them again more often in the future now that I have a menu! I can't wait to try out some other dishes, based on the comments I read here.  :smiley6600:

I still have some left overs from here.  Is midnight too late to heat up Indian food?  If I'm drinking red wine does that make it more easily digestible.  Enquiring minds want to  know.

We continue to take out from Mehfil regularly (on average two times a week) and enjoy the high quality of the food. Last week we were able to go to the restaurant and sit down to eat. We tried the Paneer Bhurji and it's a new favorite. Also ordered the Mint Paratha--it tastes like mint tea in bread form!

Gladly! Paneer Bhurji is a vegetarian dish. It's mashed-up paneer, the Indian cottage cheese, along with onions, tomato, garlic, and green chiles, along with ginger, turmeric, and cumin. Heavenly over rice. The consistency is often described as similar to scrambled eggs, but it's more gravy-like.

Other dishes at Mehfil that we've had that include paneer are: Vegetable Malai Kofta, Mattar Paneer (paneer cubes with peas), and Paneer Palak (paneer with spinach). They're all good, but the Paneer Bhurji is extra special. Definitely try it!

So I forgot I wanted to try your heavenly dish James_and_Faye and tonight I tried mango chicken with brocolli.  If you like mango, it was delish.

We've been wanting to try the mango chicken. Thanks for the tip!

Buddy, have you (or anyone else reading this thread) tried the chicken curry or the fish curry?

If yes, please describe. Thank you!
