Addictive Banh Mi, Beer and Cheese
« on: August 23, 2017, 07:16:50 PM »
Here's the latest from Addictive Beer and Cheese, which has gone into the smaller of the two spaces Addictive currently have. (They also still have the wine shop across the street.) "Ultra soft opening" tonight 8/23/17

If somebody calls out sick at the Wine store, Patrick has to do double duty at either the wine bar or the beer bar. So all you have to do is cross the street and he'll come open the wine store. But days and hours posted on the yelp pages....

I meant to ask about the brunch hour, are they still doing it or just something we mentioned here on this post.

I don't know what they are doing in the new larger space, but in the smaller space that became Addictive Beer and Cheese, they just announced these hours for the Vietnamese sandwiches.

Dear neighbors,
Hey guys! Exciting new schedules starting this week! Thank you for suggesting this hours. You guys are the best! Banh Mi with a beer for lunch anyone? Monday: ClosedTuesday: Noon to 9:00 pmWednesday: Noon to 9:00 pmThursday: Noon to 9:00 pmFriday: Noon to 9:00 pmSaturday: 11:00 am to 9:00 pmSunday: 11:00 am to 8:00 pm

Dear neighbors,

Thank you all so so much for postings and commenting on this post. I must admit that I have not been recently login to this website, I apolgized. I have read all of the  post here and response. You guys are awesome,  seeing you all talked about Addictive and caring about us meant everything to us. Especially me (Patrick). Francisco does not do social media much, so he is missing out.  :) Just kidding, I always update him. I will great a new post about Addictive Beer and Cheese and Vietnamese sandwiches. So excited that everyone that had tried our Vietnamese sandwiches are loving it! Only complaint was not too spicy enough. I upped our game, it is now spicy spicy! I hope you can stop by soon to order a sandwich. Doors open at noon today.

Thank you so much!!
Patrick

Does anyone know the opening hour for both, the beer place and the new tapas place.

I attempted few times in the past month for brunch, but both time the new tapas place are closed. And I also attempt to the wine shop only with a note say they open at later hour and a phone number to call them.

Dear neighbors,

First of all, I would like to apologize for not posting here as often as I should have. For that, I am sorry. This is a great platform to share with our fellow neighbors about what's news in the neighborhood and etc...
Thank you Ed and everyone who posted and post pictures of Addictive pictures here. I got emotional this morning when I saw all the posts and replied from one another, you guys are just awesome! I might not have know who you are individually, but many of you know my name and Francisco name, so I am sure you know us well.

I am so excited to let you know we finally have a set  schedules for Addictive Beer and Cheese and Vietnamese sandwiches.

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: Noon to 9:00 pm
Wednesday: Noon to 9:00 pm
Thursday: Noon to 9:00 pm
Friday: Noon to 9:00 pm
Saturday: 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Sunday: 11:00 am to 8:00 pm

Many of our customers wanted us to open early so they can grab a vietnamese sandwich for lunch or early dinner. After much consideration,  Francisco and I have decided on this schedules. Also, we have customers want to order Vietnamese sandwiches to go, but as of now, we do not offer take out. I need your opinion on this please, should we do take out for Vietnamese sandwiches? I would love to hear from you.

Thank you and I hope to see yuh guys soon at any of our shops.

Yes, please do banh mi take out!* I would be a frequent customer. Such a great to-go food and such a tasty and easy dinner.

Thank you so much for all you do and have done to help make our neighborhood awesome. Love all of #Addictive87 :).

*Just edited to add: If you do add take out, please try to use recyclable or compostable packaging if you can. (For sandwiches, a foil wrapper and a paper bag is usually all you need.) It drives me crazy when takeout comes in styrofoam.

The89s, you read our mind! We did a few take out for our good friends and we only used foil wrapper and a thank you bag.  ;)

The bahn mi at Addictive are seriously next level.  Since moving to JH from Los Angeles eleven years ago, I've searched the boroughs for a good bahn mi.  There was a place in Chinatown about eight years ago that was pretty good, but it closed down.  Pho Bac is pretty good for pho and pork chops, but their bahn mi are abysmal.  Thai Son is convenient but mediocre all around.  JoJu in Elmhurst is disappointing at best.  Bun-ker has a half-decent bahn mi (and a killer pho, and some legit entrees), if you're willing to schlep out to an industrial wasteland in Ridgewood and stand outside for an hour.  It's been pretty grim on the vietnamese sandwich scene.  But...

ADDICTIVE'S BAHN MI ARE THE REAL DEAL.  The bread is perfect--crisp and crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside.  I've tried the original and the chicken so far.  The filling hits all the notes--spicy, sweet, salty, sour, umami.  The pickles are crunchy and toothsome, there's just the right amount of spice...the sandwiches are filling and hearty, but also clean and crisp and leave you feeling sated but not logy.

The beer selection is fun, and pairs well with the sandwiches (my partner and I tried the Sierra Nevada Tropical IPA and a German white beer I can't recall--both were delicious).  If they did take out, I'd probably pick one up on the way home more than once a week.  Even so, I'll be back often.  Sorry for the full-throated rave, but I'm legitimately bowled over that New York City, let alone Jackson Heights, has a fantastic bahn mi place.  And it's within walking distance!  Super psyched.

Agreed, the Banh Mi are superb! Please go and support this new endeavor as it is such a delight. The sandwich was made to
perfection. Crispy bread and crunchy vegetables. Just the right seasonings. Need to go each week now and keep rotating the
drinks because that selection looks amazing.
