Attempted Rape 74th st

Hello everyone! Happy Easter! I'm sorry I always post here about horrible things. This morning cops and CSI were out on 74 between 35 and 37. The alley where the building that burned a few years ago was full of crime scene evidence markers. CSI was there bagging and tagging evidence. It was straight out of a movie. There seemed to be a secondary scene down on 35th between 74 and 75. Heard in the building someone was murdered. Usually I feel safe in the 70s since it's not as rowdy as let's say 85-90th streets. Anyway, does anyone know what happend?

Yes, that's it. A reporter was outside filming and let me know. Have to say- this block is very quiet. Usually imo the 70s are pretty good. But every single time something does happen on this block it's right there in that alley, behind that building. There must be something we can do. That place is a horrible blind spot. You can't see anything because it's so dark and because the gate is a little ways in. Hope they catch this man I feel so bad for that woman!

Yes I feel bad too.  I hope she's ok.  I've turned a few early events down solely because I'm afraid to walk around the neighborhood before 7am.  Even a job asked once and I pushed it to a later time.  If you live on that block you could try calling Dromm's office or Peralta's.  They do try to help with this kind of stuff.

Thanks for staying vigilant guys. I always wondered if we can request the city to install brighter lights on this block so we can easily spot and see people.

Something just like this happened last year about 10 blocks to the east (84th Street) with the woman being raped. Someone coming home from work in the morning hours, a man hid behind the tall hedges in front of a house (something I took note of for safety concerns when I started looking around in the neighborhood for apartments) and ambushed the woman.

 FYI There were 8 auxiliary police on the 7 train that I took last night about 9:30 from Flushing,  who were assigned to our area due to this incident.  They all got off the train with me at 74St.  It is reassuring that we are getting the additional police.
