There's a friendly male orange tabby on 76th street.  seems slightly agitated and too clean for a stray so wondering if this is a lost cat.

Aww, poor kitty.  Has (or can) anyone take him in until his home is found or someone adopts him? :(

We'd be happy to - one of our cats recently passed on and his housemate is clearly lonely. But was just trying to determine whether he was just out for a stroll and really lives in one of those houses.

I did ask a woman coming out of one of the homes there and she said there are strays walking about that block. Always sad to see, especially with the worst of winter weather still on the way.

from what I can see in the photo, he is not eartipped so he either is not a stray, a stray that has not be TNR'd or owned by someone.
Has anyone tried to pet him?  If anyone is thinking of taking him in I would strongly suggest that he go to the vet first.
They can check him for a microchip which would indicate that he has an identifiable owner. Vet will determine if he has been neutered, is FIV/FELV negative and doesn't have parasites, earmites etc.  Dr Reilly is close by.  All vets will check for a microchip at no charge.

We'd absolutely take him to the vet first, to check for chip and health.

We saw him on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 4), outside same home we first saw him at (west side of 76th street, closer to 34th ave.).  That would lead us to believe he lives there, or at least is fed or finds shelter there. He still looked well-fed, but was a bit dirtier this time. He was bumping/rubbing/crawling under the car in the driveway, though, which was covered with winter grime, so that could explain it.  But he had more of that grungy street cat look.

He let us pet him, although not as much as the first time we saw him - at that point he was very friendly and trusting, and even followed us up AND down the block, several times between 34th and 35th. He basically hung out with us, walking with us and stopping when we did, for almost a half hour... This time he stayed at the driveway and then walked away from us and disappeared behind the car after a minute or two.

We walked past a few times on Sunday and did not see him. I really hope he was curled up somewhere, safe and warm indoors.

Mystery solved - the cat does indeed live there.  :)

Hey PG goat. I saw on the queens lost and found pets facebook page that someone in JH found a tuxedo kitty. They cannot keep it. Perhaps you should look into it and maybe adopt??
