Car alarm
« on: April 09, 2016, 09:07:49 PM »
There has been a car alarm going off intermittently since 4pm. Somewhere near 34th Ave. & 74th St.  Is there any way to make it stop?

This can be maddening! Car alarms are considered an emergency. I'd call the precinct or 311 who'll likely transfer you to 911.

I contacted 311 and I think it stopped.

Make noise complaints via 311 for this sort of thing. A couple weeks ago there was a car horn blaring nonstop for hours. Not even a pattern, just a constant blare. I called it in, and my SO went out and found the car and took down the license plate, location, etc., and also called it in. It's a noise complaint, so the police aren't going to give it top priority, but if everyone who heard these kinds annoyances would make a noise complaint, maybe they'd respond a little faster.

After calling 311 I usually wait a bit and call the 115 precinct directly. I tell them the complaint location etc and that I called 311.  They are pretty good about responding versus not responding at all. But you right about power in numbers.
