Eisteddfod NY - Traditional Music Festival

Fans of folk music might be surprised to learn that our humble neighborhood plays host to an amazing annual gathering of scholars, performers, and enthusiasts of traditional music. 

Eisteddfod NY is a three day festival of concerts and workshops on a wide range of topics, from specific instruments to musical traditions from Appalachia to the Balkans.  It is jointly sponsored by folk music organizations from Washington D.C., New York, and Boston.  The festival will be held on November 16-18 at the Renaissance Charter School (35-59 81st St, Jackson Heights).

Best of all, it includes a FREE Family Concert at 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on November 17th.  We went last year and had a lot of fun.

New York's leading traditional music festival returns to Jackson Heights this November!

Sponsored by the Folk Music Society of NY / New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club

Tentative schedule

Friday 14 November
    * Concert, 7:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Saturday 15 November
    * Workshops, panels, demonstrations, open stage, folklore sessions, jamming - 10:00 a.m. - 6 p.m.
    * Free Family Concert 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. (tentative)
    * Hardanger Fiddle Master Class with Toby Weinberg (Special registration required)
    * Concert, 7:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Sunday 16 November
    * Workshops, panels, demonstrations, open stage, jamming - 10:00 a.m. - 2 p.m.
    * Concert 2:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Hi,
It is a great festival and a great time.
Just wanted to let you know that the Free Family Concert Sat 12:30 - 1:30 is definitely happening. 

You can check the website  www.eisteddfod-ny.org and to see the schedule of the concerts and the workshops, the jamming, the singing!! you name it.
