This is fun.  Over at Serious Eats, Max Falkowitz has developed a One-Day Food Tour of Jackson Heights and Elmhurst.   

It's a pretty good list.  Personally, I don't think a JH food tour is complete without hitting La Esquina De Cameron and El Palacio de los Cholados, but I guess there are limits to how far we can walk and how much we can eat.

What would be on your one-day tour of the area?

I would add a bar in the area. Maybe one of the gay bars, Terraza 7 for music, or UFC and Little Tibet for beer. It's a food tour anyway so it may have to wait for a real cocktail bar to be opened.

Just did this with some relatives visiting over Memorial Day. We hit up Spicy Tibet and Arepa Lady for major meals, and then sampled specialties from Kababish, Rajbhog, and Maharaja (it was really 2 days!...also went to Dumpling Galaxy and New World food court in Flushing). So not too different from the article.

Writer is correct that Indian food in the neighborhood is not that good anymore, but Rajbhog and Maharaja have some good specialties you don't get at average places (khandvi, patra, chaats, bread pakoras, paneer pakoras).

Does anyone know what that dish is at the top of the article, and what restaurant it's from? Looks sooooo good!

That one is definitely from Khao Kang. Possibly some stir-fry, "sweet pork," and fried egg. You can get the last two all day but just around ten types of curries and stir-fries are available at a time.

LOL, I have to take exception to this sentence in the article:

"Step off the subway and the air itself tastes good"

Yeah right, if you like the smell of hot garbage.

Haha.. apparently they aren't exiting the subway on that 75th Street entrance near the parking garage for the Asian supermarket. There's always a nice thick scent of stacked up garbage on that sidewalk.

The main entrance on Roosevelt I don't mind, I actually did smell the food truck there when it was actually allowed to be there.
