The semi-annual "Jackson Heights is the next biggest thing" article.

One of the people quoted lives in my building.

Semi-annual? I thought we got featured quarterly! Though I am not sure it's a good thing... NYC Finance seems to think 12 to 17% annual property tax hikes are acceptable now.

"Jackson Heights is the next big thing" YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNN.
In the standard-issue diversity paragraph, they could at least have mentioned Tibetans & Nepalis as another big presence. Drive-by reporters always use the store signs as a proxy for the actual population, leading to an over-emphasis on Indian residents.

Interestingly enough, I remember a link on here to a 1992 Times article that pretty much said exactly what this one did, just with lower prices.

there were a lot of stories like this one in 1995-1996, when we were first looking in the neighborhood. i remember holding my breath and hoping the prices would hold.

The demographic of the neighborhood is changing, although some people refuse to acknowledge it. So it is the next big thing.

Lazily written article.  So sick of "din" and "low slung" to describe the area.  The photos do not do the beautiful areas of our neighborhood justice.

It's becoming wealthier.

Which is not to say it's becoming wealthy, as in 1 percent.

Just people with higher incomes than before. More white collar, professional.  It really is.

Any one of us could have written a better article.

How would you describe Jackson Heights to an audience of New York Times readers?
