Just noticed a sign on Woodside Ave. about a new Thai restaurant coming featuring  food from northeast Thailand.

Hey, does anyone know if any of the delivery Thai places understand what "gluten free" means? Much Thai food can be naturally gluten free, but you have to keep an eye out for soy sauce and whether there's wheat in the curry bases. It's 100% doable if the chef has the tiniest bit of a clue on the topic.

I've been happy with Black Thai for ordering in and Sripraphai for eating out, but a bunch of the Woodside Avenue places, when I asked them, basically said "we don't want to deal with you, goodbye." I'd love to have some more options.

A bit more about the new Thai restaurant on Woodside. It's called Hug Esan and it's a few doors down from Ayada, on the first floor of a private house. I talked to a woman there and she thought they would be opening in three or four weeks.

Jeaw Hon (71-30 Roosevelt) is also a Thai hot pot place.  I've never been but it gets a lot of online raves.

Oh no! So sad to hear this. I loved that place—wish I could have had one last meal there before they vanished forever. I can't say I'm shocked though, since it was often quite empty.

Bagels, meanwhile, seems a strange choice since Bagels Plus is just a couple blocks away from there. And there was really nothing else like Suki Thai Shabu nearby. (Unless someone knows another good Thai shabu place in W Queens?) Sigh.

Maybe you're talking about a different new place? The hug esan place is on the same block as Ayada, further east, don't think it could share a kitchen with khao kang.

Soooo... it's apparently owned by the same people as Khao Kang (if this is the same place we're talking about (and I hope it's not bc that means 2 new places!)). They could potentially share a kitchen I guess.

Went to Hug Esan last night for dinner--around 8pm--and they were closed.  Anybody know why?  Really excited to try this place out!
