Until recently I thought there was just one "pigeon lady", but last week I saw another woman with a shopping cart on 76th Street between Roosevelt and 37th Avenue scattering bird seed and bread crumbs, so we have at least 2 "pigeon people" and hopefully no more.

Funny, I remember seeing a "pigeon lady" in the Gramercy Park area, about 13 years ago.  She would walk around with a shopping cart, and had a cardboard sign attached that said something like "Please help feed the starving birds - any donations of food or money are appreciated".

Seems like every neighborhood all over the U.S. (and perhaps the world as well), has at least one "Pigeon Lady", and the ubiquitous "Cat Woman" - a woman who lives alone in a creepy old house and has 15+ cats in her house!
