First time, tonight. There were 3 of us. We all decided to get the tasting menu. Price has gone up since the fall, but it is worth it. It was so delicious! We will be going back!

Feature article on Casa del Chef in today's New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/22/dining/hungry-city-casa-del-chef-in-woodside-queens.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

Thanks. Good to see that the NYT is paying attention to a restaurant in the area.

Agreed. Nice one NYT. Hopefully this brings the clientle that Casa Del Chef Bistro is aiming for. So often it seems that the next thing you read after an ambitious restaurant opens here, is that is amazing- or it closed- in too short a time for a business to really find its groove.

My first experience was very positive, the setting couldn't be more humble, and the food is as impressive as others have said. I had the tasting menu, I will go back, want to try other dishes.
Less than 15 minute walk from JH if you live in the low 70s.

Ate there last night with a JH neighbor and was very impressed! Only three tables full so check it out! The food is full of unusual and beautifully turned-out flavors. The staff is lovely and the decor very authentic to places I ate while in Ecuador. A lovely mix of fine dining and homey charm. Perfect for date night or a special evening celebrating a graduation. They have wine now, too so you can raise a glass.

Sorry if I am late to the game, but I believe Casa del Chef in Woodside, is one of the best restaurants in Queens - it's a place you "want to take your parents."  The staff is warm and welcoming, and the food is warm and wonderful.  Greens are mainly bought fresh and local, and it's menu is conscientious and seasonal.

We went as a group of six last night after making a reservation earlier in the day.  We were greeted with an amazingly warm apertif called a canelazo - so good.  We didn't get to see the very talented chef - a  Blue Hill alum - as he was in the back all night plating the beautiful dishes.  The incorporation of local produce into dishes seasoned with the rich Ecuadorian flavors was fantastic.

It is expensive (like Manhattan), but it's worth it. Nice to find a new date night spot.

Last night we had the opportunity to dine at Casa Del Chef in Woodside right off Roosevelt Ave. The place is quaint and has an intimate and homey feel. For just $45 per person you can take advantage of the tasting menu where the chef will cook for you. You will receive 3 amazing courses plus dessert. The ingredients are locally sourced from the Jackson Heights Farmers Market which is pretty unique for this area. The complexity of the ingredients in each course creates an explosive dining experience and I highly recommend to check it out. Make sure you thank Chef Alfonzo for his beautiful creations. The end.

My wife and I have eaten here three times and each time was better than the last. We've never done the tasting menu but the regular menu is great. Their pork ossobuco is so delicious.
