"We are in the final 50-yard sprint of this project," MTA Capital Construction Company President Michael Horodniceanu said in a statement. “We expect to announce an opening date in the next several weeks."

Woot!

Todd,
You don’t like the Moscow subways? Only seen pictures and heard accounts from one of my sons, whose been there twice, but they seem quite impressive, even in the nonwealthy districts, the equivalent of JH. Instead here, it looks like the scrimped on the colored glass art artwork we got at 74 Street. It didn’t even fill the entire opening. It’s surrounded with plain glass.

The MTA has set a new opening date: September 13, 2015

Which, of course, insures that I need to ride the damn shuttlebus AGAIN for the next Javits show  >:(

Here's my earlier comment on this.   I think Moscow's subways are spectacular, but not something we should emulate here and now:

The opening date still seems to be September 13.  There should still be some good weather left in the fall to get to ride all the way out to the Highline on the 7 train once the new station opens!

If you haven't made it out to the new end of the 7 train, here's your chance to do so, and see a free movie in the park next to the Hudson Yards station:
