An inclined elevator, such as the one used in the Eiffel Tower (pictured), is being built by the MTA at the end of the No. 7 line extension at West 34th St.

The 7 train extension to 34th St. is now scheduled to be open by late summer or early fall.  With the 7 terminal station being moved from 42nd to 34th, how do you anticipate this will affect your commute?  Is the extension a bonus for anyone living in JH or mainly only the people who will live/work in the Hudson Yards area?

More delays on this project.  Now they are talking about February 2015, or even spring 2015.

Nearly every project from all types of industries miss their deadlines due to aggressive dates and unforeseen circumstances.

but some industries occasionally function properly. NYC and the MTA have a perfect zero percent track record. something to be proud of, i guess.

Not really a surprise, but now the projected completion date is April - July 2015.  Looks like it won't be done in time for the nice weather on the High Line.  :'(

I don't understand the cynicism about this. I'm in my thirties and this is the first time in my lifetime that we're getting a new subway stop. (At least I can't think of one.)

It's a waste of money. I would rather they extend the 7 all the way to Bayside.

So if they end up moving the Javits to Queens what good is the extension? I was always confused about why the 7 is being extended and all the talk about moving the Javits at the same time..

They're already building a massive complex of office and apartment towers on Hudson Yards. If they bulldoze Javits, they intend to build even more 40-story office towers and 60-story luxury condos on the site. It'll be kind of like Battery Park City/World Financial Center.

Oh man. This news bums me out a bit. But after my morning getting ready listening to NPR, with the truly horrific news of what is happening in Peshawar and even Sydney, this is a non-event.

63rd/Lex, Roosevelt Island and 21st/Queensbridge opened in '89.
Not sure if it counts, but the JFK Airtrain opened in '03.

Looking forward to the new station, whenever...

The High Line is a favorite walk when I'm in town. It's not that big a deal to take the bus to the subway (free transfer) but it would be nice to get a couple of benches at the stop.

Walking is quite feasible too, but unless one takes a detour it's an unlovely slog surrounded by construction sites.
