2 Points

1) This building is in Community Board #4, please call them with concerns.

2) It is likely the building is "as of right", zoning allows for a certain maximum height and floor space
  - additionally, no approval is needed by anyone, except the need for Building Permits

Forgive me for bringing back an old thread, but I looked to see if there was any newer info on this building and didn't find any.

Anyway, I've been passing this enormous, mustard-colored, likely styrofoam building next to the Jax Inn since I moved here just a few years ago. I thought it looked like a catering hall, but this thread indicates it was intended to be a multi-use building. Does anyone know what happened? It looks exactly the same as it did in 2011. Will it ever open? Who owns that large piece of land that is sitting dormant?

Not sure who the current property owner is, but I recall seeing a large banner there at one one time advertising Tierras Colombianas restaurant.  This was a few years back... not too long after the Tierras on Roosevelt Avenue had closed.  Now I'm wondering if its the same folks behind the Tierras currently located in Astoria.  Kind of confusing.   ???

i'm confused. the post referenced here was for a building on Roosevelt, and the revival referenced an address next to Jax Inn, which is on Northern. which one are we talking about?

This thread was about the site that became this building on Roosevelt Avenue:
http://queens.brownstoner.com/tag/40-07-73rd-street/
http://www.jacksonheightslife.com/community/index.php?topic=9999.0

Superclam's asks a good question about this very strange project on Northern Blvd., which has been sitting empty since it was completed:
http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/17664319/72-06-Northern-Boulevard-Jackson-Heights-NY/
But that is a different site.    Anybody know what's going on there?

Whoops! My bad. I searched for the building next to the Jax Inn; I'm not sure how I ended up posting here. I might have been drunk. Or perhaps not drunk enough.

But toddg's listing pretty much tells me what's going on. Trying to sell. It looks like a small shopping mall with parking, I wonder what happened to the original developers.

No wait! It says "off market."

I'm gonna try to read stuff before I post about it.  :-[

wasn't trying to embarrass anyone, honest!  :)

that building on northern is very odd. it had a sign for a business/tenant for a while, but that was over a year ago. very odd indeed.

It's ok. There's enough fighting on here without me joining in. Really, I should pay attention more.

This building remains a mystery to me. Architecturally, it looks like a newly rich Miami d-bag's house. It seems ridiculous that a lot that size would go unused.

I've had hopes that a gym would buy that building - it's huge and just sits empty.  And yes, so Miami looking.
