If someone would curate, I am sure the JHBG would offer copies of its original photos and ephemera on Jackson Heights, to be displayed in front of the refrigerator units, facing the street.  Originals would be faded by the sun, so they could not be used, but copies should do just fine.  If someone can arrange this, let me know.

If the owner is willing to do that, I would be more than happy to curate/design something that could be affixed to the exterior windows.  JHLifer, will you PM me to discuss?

I walked over today. The windows are still papered over, but I found an unlocked door, went in and wandered around for about 10 minutes looking at stuff before someone approached me and said they are not open yet. They hope to do so tomorrow. The place looked pretty good though during my accidental sneak peak. It's not entirely finished yet, and it seems like some equipment still needs to be installed. Comparatively, the space feels spacious and the aisles are pretty wide. It's an all around upgrade. I'm looking forward to a more authorized tour tomorrow or this weekend.

They were open today--still stocking some of the shelves and getting organized a bit, but otherwise looking good inside. Certainly happy it's not another discount store or pharmacy.

What, no complaints that the window scrim illustrations are featuring too many tomatoes or not enough kale?

this is not about the windows, sorry to dissapoint ;) but now time to focus on what's on the inside folks!
I am very impressed by the size of the store, huge for a natural/organic market, as well as nicely organized.
Resembles markets I have been in, in Brooklyn and the prices are more or less what they would be in Brooklyn natural markets.  It's simply another great addition to our 'hood ! 2014 is looking up for JH  :D

Thanks for the snark Ed.  It added so much to the discussion.

JHLifer - email sent.

BTW, as of yesterday afternoon, they put some decals on the front of the store on both sides and one side window.  Hope they do the same with the rest.

I just saw this thread and all I can say is this supermarket is a welcomed addition to JHs.  The fact that they have so much organic and green products is so damn wonderful I was practically vibrating with joy when I was inside.  Then add to that the place is bright, clean, attractively decorated …. I can't think of anything negative to say because I'm thrilled to have something like this here.  To complain about one side of the building seems so damn petty to me.  I guess some people will always find something to complain about.
First, do no harm.

I haven't been there yet, but my husband went yesterday and said he likes this addition to the neighborhood. He thinks the prices for organic produce are pretty reasonable, and it's nice that we can walk there instead of having to drive to other places. He said that one of the workers were complaining about the door setup because cold air rushes in everytime the door opens. Maybe one of those plastic outer doors might help? Either way, welcome to the area, Natural Market!
