Hello,

My partner and I produced a video news story for our Digital Media class at Columbia.

As you are probably aware by now, the Farmer's Market at Travers Park is now year-round. Here's out story:

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone in Jackson Heights is participating in this year's marathon. And if so, why?

Thanks!

PS - Thanks to all of you for your responses about the bookstore, they were all a great help

Hello everyone,

I'm a reporter writing a story on the lack of a bookstore in Jackson Heights. I'm trying to figure out when the last time there was a local bookstore. From what I've pieced together, it was about 10 years ago and was called something like Discount Books and may have been located around 37th avenue and 77th street.

Does anyone know of a more specific address for the store? I need to verify that this information is correct/incorrect.

In addition, I would be interested in talking to you if you have thoughts/feelings on the lack of a bookstore in the area. My contact information is below.

Thank you and have a great day!

Dear JH community,

I'm trying to do a story on Table Wine, the wine store located on 37th Street. I would love to talk to any of you about the store: good experiences, bad experience, thoughts, opinions!

If you're like to talk to me, send me a private message here on the forums or email me at rhprocter@gmail.com with some contact information and I'll be in touch!

My deadline is Thursday evening.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hey everyone!

My name is Richard and I'm new to Jackson Heights! I have a more detailed introduction you can find over in the HELLO! thread! (http://www.jacksonheightslife.com/community/index.php?topic=50.msg33825#msg33825)

I just wanted to let everyone know that if there's something going on you think would make a good news story, let me know! I'd love to hear more and possibly cover it. Jackson Heights will be my beat for the next several months and I'd love to hear any story ideas the community might have. I'll be checking this forum fairly often myself, but if you want to get in touch with me directly, you can:

- message me here!
- reply in this thread!
- email me (included in signature below)!
- call me (also below)!

If you see me around, stop me and say hello (if I don't stop you first!).

Have a great day,

Richard

Hi!

My name is Richard Procter and I'm new to Jackson Heights!

I live in Harlem, but will be spending a great deal of time in JH in the coming months! I'm a Journalism student at Columbia University and will be reporting on JH for my class in addition to freelancing what articles I can in local papers.

I'm originally from Sacramento, California. I went to UC Davis for my undergraduate work and ended with a degree in Communication. I enjoy movies, video games, reading, friends and sports. My favorite teams are the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Lakers.

I love listening people and doing what I can to help.

If you see me around, say hello! I'd love to chat. I'm 6'2", Caucasian, with brown hair and glasses. And I'll probably have a dorky messenger back with me.

See you around!

~Richard
