I want to frame this as a rumour but nonetheless intriguing.  I heard from a person I work with who grew up in the neighborhood and is friends with Al the former owner of The Cavalier that he (Al) is looking at starting up a new re staraunt in the space across from the Post Office.  I believe it's the current campaign office for Jose Peralta.

Greetings!

I would like to recommend Jon Fisher of Prudential Douglas Elliman as an outstanding real estate agent to work with in finding the right property to fit your needs. He is a warm an ardent person who's enthusiasm tends to really help and push the whole buying/selling process along.  My wife and I recently purchased a unit in The Belvedere on 85th street and were very pleased with the interview package (neatly bound and subdivided sections) that Mr. Fisher put together for our coop board to read and study.  In fact he did such a good job that during our interview the coop board president stated how impressed he was with his neatness and organization. Mr. Fisher also takes pride in the neighborhood as he has raised his family and currently resides in Jackson Heights.  My wife and I felt that because of this he could give us a greater insight to the "in's and out's" of the area.  Our overall experience working with him was excellent, he is easy to talk with and candid in his assessment of the neighborhood properties.  Please feel free to contact or reply to me here as I would be happy to convey any other information regarding Jon Fisher.  Here is a link to his bio at Prudential.

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Local gyms, health clubs, exercise spots

There is another gym that is relatively close that I belong to called Big Six Fitness.  It is 61-10 Queens Blvd 2nd Floor, Woodside.  Many people remember it as a Gold's Gym that only recently changed owners.  They have all the same equipment as the old Golds including clean locker rooms and an aerobics room used for classes.  They offer spin classes every day along with various other strength training courses.  If you drive it is only 10 min, I ride a bike to the gym and it takes 15 min at most.  They allow cyclists to bring their bikes inside to the front desk/juice bar.  If you take the subway it is NOT as easy or fast to get there.  It involves getting off the 7 at 61st Woodside and heading towards Queens Blvd up 61st St.  I believe the yearly membership is $475.00, they also offer a free 7 day trial pass.  I find it to be the best deal around ONLY if you are willing to ride your bike or brave crossing Queens Blvd on foot!

You stated in your response that all NYC Public Middle School classrooms were grouped homogeneously.  That is incorrect, the DOE requires elementry and middle schools to be grouped heterogeneously, that is students with a mixed level of abilities.  Although you will find that many schools disregard that and group according to level.  This can be very successful if done with the proper care and data.
