This is not exactly in the neighborhood but Mundo in Astoria has so many vegetarian dishes - and they are all delicious!  It's on 31st off Broadway and not far from the N/W train.  http://www.mundoastoria.com    If you have never been, definitely worth the extra trip from Woodside...

A couple of my favorites that come to mind:

The paninis at Il Bambino in Astoria (31st Ave)
Also, I love the sandwiches (and soups and salads) at the Blue Dog Coffee Co on 25th St. and 6th Ave in Manhattan - everything is so fresh, sandwiches and salads are creative and the soup is amazing!

The gift shop located on 37th between 79th and 80th was called Ancil House.  The other store across the street that sold crystal, etc - I am pretty sure was called Tante Mieux (sp.) - and that was actually its second location - before that it was on 78th Street off 37th Avenue - where the 78 Nail salon is now.
