This place is great. Been going for years.  Bartenders are friendly and funny and give fast service.  Food in the back is excellent too.  Highly recommend.  ;D

Neighborhood Chat / Re: 78-23 37th Ave previously NOVO?

Molly Blooms, a nice Irish pub in Sunnyisde was intereseted in opening a second location in the NOVO space, but Starbucks shut them down because they have a clause somewhere in their lease that no one can open a restaurant near them that serves coffee.  And this pub has brunch on the weekends and serves coffee, so they couldn't move in.  :(

This happened to me too on Friday night.  They were able to withdraw $500 and then an additional $300 at a Citibank in Elmhurst by the Queens Center Mall.  Very upsetting and I didn't receive a phone call about it.  I only realized it when I tried to use my card on Saturday and the bank had blocked use so I couldn't withdraw anything.  I received my new card yesterday though and they said the money should be back in my account by tomorrow.

The old coffee shop was technically named "Christy's" but the owner's name was Tony.  Maria was great!  And Tony made a great breakfast.. It was pretty run-down, but a lot of neighborhood people went in there all the time.

And yes, 18 de julio was a great place as well.  The cook/owner back in the day was George...

I miss that place.. and their skirt steak sandwiches.. ::)  Although La Portena is great too..

The store next to Seba Seba is called Inner Peace.  They have some very nice things.  One of the original owners who opened the store with his fiancee, Tanya, was named Sergio Villanueva.  He was a fireman who was killed on September 11th.  They were an extremely nice couple who were always very helpful.
