Can anyone recommend a stove repair person? A burner on my stove is only working intermittently, and I need to get someone to come take a look at it. It's a Frigidaire.

Neighborhood Chat / Does your cell phone work in your building?

Hey folks,
I'm on the ATT Edge network using an iPhone and it doesn't work at all in my building (I'm in the middle 70s and my apartment faces the garden of my building). Do any of you have this problem? Or, if you get really good cell phone reception in your building, can you recommend your carrier? I'm wondering if TMobile or Sprint would be any better.

Also, for you fellow iPhone users, I just saw this article today that the 3G network is dropping 30% of calls in the New York area:

Disgusting! I love my iPhone, but since I can't use it in my apt and 3G appears to suck anywhere else, I'm reticent to upgrade to the 3G network.

Real Estate & Home Improvement / How can I stop/minimize squeaky floors?

Hi there,
It seems that the floors in my building are really squeaky. My neighbor above me gets up an hour before I do and wakes me up with the squeaky floorboards. I realized there's not much I can do about that.

The floors in my apt are pretty bad as well. I put down a rug in my entryway, and it doesn't stop the squeaking one bit. I'm concerned that rugs and pads aren't enough.

Is there anything else I can do so my neighbors don't suffer?

Hi there,
I'm new to the neighborhood and happy to be here. Question: my building doesn't seem to have turned on the heat yet. My thermometer in my bedroom is reading about 66-68 degrees.

Are co-op buildings required to turn on the heat after Oct 15 like rental buildings? Or is it at the discretion of the building? I know oil is expensive, but I'm pretty darn cold!
