Neighborhood Chat / Post office drunkards
« on: June 21, 2021, 11:39:59 AM »
We squabble about open streets and community centers.  However our weak leadership let’s a group of aggressive males hammer back  20 oz straw-beer-Rita’s a day long in front of the center of our community, the post office.  How does this happen? Are we allowed cops in JH anymore?  These Wasteoids are within the shadow of ps 69.  I’m fairly certain that is  very illegal.

Just curious, has any local community council candidate made any mention about this? They certainly would get my vote.

Neighborhood Chat / Mazda chopshop/travers park
« on: May 03, 2021, 12:27:00 PM »
As I sit in the toddler area today at travers park, huffing noxious fumes from the Mazda chop shop.  I wonder, How did this happen?  I forgot the story, but I remember they raced to build it before the park redesign was finished.  But seriously how the hell did we allow this?   Who dropped the ball?  Dromm?

The chemical smell I’m assuming has to toxic?  The little bit of street is essentially a showroom for Mazda.  Car always illegal parked.  Seems very shady and very mismanaged.

Neighborhood Chat / children in masks NYC
« on: April 14, 2021, 04:42:50 PM »
So when can we relax the mask rules for kids here in NYC?  2/3 of the health organizations (UNICEF & WHO) recommend no masks ever for kids 5 and younger, kids 6-11 shouldn't wear them either except if there are around someone at high risk.  So now that most adults are vaccinated, or have had the chance.  What are we waiting for?  When can the community start to relax the rules a bit?

For whats its worth, i not even talking about inside, I just mean walking the streets and the playgrounds.  let see some faces again.

If you leave the NYC metro area, its like a whole new smiling world...

Restaurants & Food / Warm & safe Outdoor seating
« on: December 03, 2020, 10:03:54 AM »
I’ve seen some ridiculous “outside“ setups here in JH, enclosed sheds with doors for examples.

Has anyone seen a safe set up, that also has heat (overhead or propane) ?

Neighborhood Chat / JH needs local leadership
« on: July 18, 2020, 11:05:36 AM »
Returned after a month away.  My god, JH is disgusting. What happened?
-Drunks seem to be everywhere, they are permanent fixtures around those new LINk NY kiosks
-Fuck covid  shark graffiti everywhere.
-Homeless encampments at the post office.
-Streets are repulsive with garbage and waste.
I would be embarrassed to have someone visit me here.

How does this happen?  Do are elected officials do anything?  Or do they just care of national politics?

Neighborhood Chat / Playground
« on: June 11, 2020, 01:05:50 PM »
Any idea when these officially can be open?
I’m tired of seeing them used for sweaty workouts, but not kids.

Also, in sunny side all non actual playground areas are open.  So when do we get the tennis court back?

Neighborhood Chat / Cuomo dinner party
« on: April 20, 2020, 10:07:58 AM »
The governor talked yesterday about his daughters new boyfriend, then posted a picture of his lovely dinner party with his 3 daughters and the new boyfriend.  His rational is that everyone was quarantined for 2 weeks.

So, since we are all making up stuff as we go along.  Does that mean that we can hang out with other people as long as we all have been in 2 weeks of isolation?

It’s a very mixed message. Or it just a case of do as I say, not as I do.

Neighborhood Chat / Dromm for a day....
« on: April 24, 2019, 09:28:22 AM »
Here is what i would do if i could be Dromm for a day. Easy fixes, very little  money.  These should be standard of living for a tax paying citizen.  Anything else?

1) end open prostitution.  its so weird and creepy that this even happens in 2019.  Roosevelt will always be a dump until they clean this up
2) close the fentanyl lab behind kitchen 79.  its been talked on here before.  its so painfully obvious.  perhaps cops are involved.
3) make the food trucks move.  allow the streets and sidewalks to be cleaned for once.  the repeating same taco truck along Roosevelt, the permanent grocery store outside 74th st station.  the never moving food trucks that block diversity plaza.
4) free up our sidewalks.  no more cheap cloths spilling onto 82nd st.  or the dollar stores along 37th.  or the weekly junk sale at ps69.  we have a ton of people in the neighborhood., its getting harder and harder to walk around with all the impediments.
5) have the endless metermaid army enforce actual parking laws.  end double parking along 37th ave and bring back no parking on Roosevelt during business hours.
6) bring back the cops.  We have over 100k tax payers, and about zero cop presence. Where are they?  where does our $ go?

Neighborhood Chat / E bikes/scooters on 37th ave
« on: February 25, 2019, 01:13:21 PM »
I’m sick of getting nearly clipped constantly on 37th ave by these lunatic delivery drivers. How the hell are they allowed to drive  on the sidewalks, let alone keep them parked all day.  The Chinese delivery guy is the worst on 79th and 37th, he comes in extra hot usually From a one way (going wrong way).   Metermaids just watch.

Since we don’t have cops here in JH, I’m not sure who could correct this?!?

Neighborhood Chat / Farmers market - close the street
« on: July 15, 2018, 09:25:45 PM »
How in the world can they not get the permit to close one street for the farmers market every Sunday?  We have a dozen parades a year that must require massive $$$ to close all those streets & you barely have that many people that actually go and watch.  Yet the weekly farmers market is a vital cog of the neighborhood, enjoyed by a huge amount of local residents. It should be a no brainer.

Neighborhood Chat / Travers Park ...
« on: March 26, 2018, 09:03:03 PM »
I have heard a year and half thrown around. Does anyone know if that is a year and half to just do the green lawn and connect it to the other “dog” park area?  Or if it’s a year and half to do the entire thing including the playgrounds?  Truth be told I’m surprised by the progress already and have a slimmer of hope it might actually be done on time.

Also 2 quick thoughts....

1) how brutal is the northern Blvd entrance to travers? Awfully fun walking past a busy pep boys parking lot/chop garage with the kiddos. Hopefully the powers that be can make a safer side entrance.

2) is there anything more terrifying then a tree surgeon. Yikes!  Who are those butchers, and  What is that qualification for a license?   Those guys in the past 3 days already clear cut all the trees next to garden school. I’m terrified of what they will deam “ diseased” in the actual park.  The more “sick” trees they find the fatter the bill they charge.
