What I don't understand is our neighborhoods being in the epicenter of the epicenter, when they decided to place a testing site in Queens, they put it in Jamaica. Shouldn't they put it here ?? It seems to me even now, we still still being neglected by the public officials.

Just an analysis of our surrounding neighborhoods, a simple risk calculation on my part, not making any judgments. No need to get into a tizzy.

I highly doubt folks will be clamoring to live in what was the epicenter of the epicenter.  May take some time to live that one down.   :(

Agree. The density and overcrowding of folks living here (outside the Historic District) has become problematic and conducive to worsening a pandemic situation.

100 percent agreed. I love living here in JH, but next time there is a hint of a pandemic, I am outta here so fast. JH and the surrounding areas are essentially poor immigrant neigborhood and all of its associated characteristics (multi-generation homes, overcrowding, poor primary care, much of its population are low wage essential workers) makes it the  worst place to be when a pandemic strikes.

ny times article about our neighborhood.
Next time there is a pandemic and I hope there is no next time in my lifetime. I am leaving for another location. The rate of infection in our area is insane compare to rest of nyc.

I found their pizza to be mediocre.

I think the stock for singles has gotten considerably better in the last few years as many people have been priced out of other "cooler" neighborhoods. I have a few friends that have moved to the area and they are pretty hot! The 74th st hub is excellent.

I wouldn't care about the gardens bc you generally wouldn't even use it. Something to think about might be traffic on apartments on the streetside, but that might be choosy of you.

I am on 73rd, north of 35th. Sometimes the traffic is annoying but it's not something to move over. I LOVE how quick it is to get on the train. I Love the choice of supermarkets and the different enclaves, especially Elmhurst. I love Elmhurst. Astoria is pretty lame but I do get jealous on how busy the restaurants are there, how much participation non-families have in that area. JH is excellent for families. I was a single here 12 years ago and I admit it was definitely difficult but now it's better.

I live in a garden apartment and the biggest benefit is that all our bedrooms face the garden, makes it so very quiet as oppose to facing the streets. I live on 2nd floor and in my living room faces the street and u can can almost heard everything.
