I have a 3 drawer chest from Ikea [http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/75305709/] that I no longer have any use for. It's in great condition and is a little over a year old. It's from a non-smoking, pet free and, bed bug free home. It is still unstained/unfinished as shown in the Ikea link. It's light and easy to transport and could likely be carried away without a vehicle [I live in the neighborhood].

It was originally purchased for $35 at Ikea -- I'm looking for $20 OBO.

Please let me know if you're interested or would like to see actual photos of the chest.

Real Estate & Home Improvement / Re: No Heat or Hot Water!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! The hot water is back on - not so sure about the heat though. I haven't felt it come on in a few days. I wrote a letter to the management company in hopes of decreasing our next months rent for the days we were without hot water but haven't heard back yet.

It is indeed a Vantage property. I had no idea they were so hated! Divanatrix & StevenGrey, have you lived in a Vantage building or have you just heard they're terrible? When my husband & I moved here, we needed to find an apartment quickly & I didn't google Vantage until after we had signed the lease. They've been pretty good up until this heat/hot water situation (which happened right after we resigned our lease of course!).

Real Estate & Home Improvement / No Heat or Hot Water!

Hey all -

My bldg (37-25 81st street) hasn't had heat or hot water for 5 days!! I've called the management company and the super a million times since Saturday and keep being told that it will be on soon or by the end of the day. I was told at 9 this morning that it would be fixed in the next 20 minutes but it's still not working. I've also called 311 and reported an issue. This is my first apartment in NYC so I'm not sure what else to do to get this fixed. Also, does anyone have advice on what to do about getting my rent lowered?

Thanks!!

I'm not sure if this is the same RV that BellaBella mentioned, but I often see an RV marked with something along the lines of "Teen Health Outreach/Initiative" on different parts of 37th (usually btwn 75th & 80th). It seems to be some sort a clinic or info center for teens to get information or possibly free testing. Sorry I don't have more information but if I see it again soon I'll pop by and ask them more info so I can to pass it along to you!

Best of luck with your project!!

Community Trade and Classifieds / Ford Explorer for Sale
« on: June 11, 2011, 11:38:34 AM »
Hi!

I moved to Jackson Heights recently and have since been trying to get rid of my car as I barely drive it. I have it posted on Craigslist but keep getting scam responses so I thought this might be a better way to sell it to someone in the neighborhood. The description is below:

2003 Navy Blue Ford Explorer XLS for sale - $4,900
The car is in great shape and was last inspected in August 2010. It has a new battery and alternator, 4 new tires, and had the air conditioning recharged in May 2010. It has 118,000 miles on it (most of which are highway miles). It holds five passengers and has a large storage area in the back. The back seats fold down easily for extra storage when needed. The car has four-wheel drive and drives great in the snow. It has automatic locks and windows and two key fobs. Owned by non-smokers without pets. There is slight chipping of the paint on the hood of the car.
Please contact with serious inquiries only.

I have pictures & you can see it in person too. Let me know if you're interested!

Thanks! :)

Restaurants & Food / Good bars in the neighborhood
« on: May 24, 2011, 04:59:18 PM »
Has anyone else noticed that there are no good bars in the neighborhood? My husband and I recently moved to Jackson Heights and would like to grab a drink once in a while during happy hour; however, we're finding there are no bars around here where we can do that. Also, on the weekends, the bars on Roosevelt don't seem to be good places to grab a drink and hang out with friends. Does anyone that's been here longer know why there's such a lack of low-key bars? Any suggestions of ones close by?
