Pets and Animals / Re: Horse poop?
« on: December 31, 2008, 09:56:49 PM »
i ride my bike everyday and most of the time i have to watch out for the horse shit. i dont understand why cops are still riding around on horses. why are my tax dollars going to these pigs on horses, horses are really expensive animals to take care of. whats the point, they dont even clean anything up and i'm sure they dont run after criminals while they're on horses. get rid of the horse shit!

I understand your annoyed about the poop on the street which I think is gross to but, as far as calling Cops "Pigs", I doubt very much you would refer to them as a "Pig" when you need them.  Or maybe you will, hey next time you need "help" from the man in blue....just yell out the window and see who will come to rescue you? Good Luck!

I think this is an old topic and I'm sorry if I"m repeating the same topic again but, I am constantly getting woken (is this a word?) up in the middle of the night (early morning hours) every Saturday night into Sunday morning.  It's ridiculous how these club goers hit Nobu on my corner and park there cars wherever they like (at the fire hydrant in front of my bldg) and shout as they leave the bar and then decide to have a conversation under my window for 30 minutes.  I live on the fifth floor and I feel like I'm outside with them.  This morning (4:45am) these guys decided to shout and carrying on for 30 minutes and when the Cops finally came (3 Cop cars) they told them to leave.  They didn't receive a ticket for illegally parking at the fire hydrant nor did they get a ticket for shouting and the Cops didn't wait for them to leave either. I know this because I was wide awake and watched all of this.  It's not fair and NO I cannot blame NOBU for there customers but I live on the same block as the place so I get to hear the noise all the time (esp. Sat nights) and its frustrating!!!     I heard that some Cops hangout there from time to time, could these guys be on the job?....If so, is that why they were dismissed from the Cops that showed up?  But, what's the point in calling the PD if there just going to drive by and not do anything?  >:(

  I meant NOVO Rest.  Ooops!!!

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Graffiti
« on: September 07, 2008, 02:49:46 PM »
I just wanted to say, I grew up in JHts and in the 80's graffiti was bad around the neighborhood.  Kids would "tag' there names everywhere, the side of buildings, in the lobby's of the building and even on sidewalks.  It was similar to the display you see on the # 7 train in LIC.  I have to say I knew a lot of those kids doing the graffit and they came from good homes and went to Catholic and private schools.  It really doesn't matter if the kid is from a broken home or not it usually is a kid acting out for attention.  I agree with a lot of the things Mr.C wrote and I just wanted to say I knew someone who went to Rikers for displaying his graffiti.  I don't know how many times you have to get caught to make you go to jail but, I do know its a crime.

Anyway, I just wanted to say JHts has come a long way and yes there still is a problem with the graffiti and it annoys me that this happens and right now there is graffiti on the side of my bldg and no matter how many times you clean it, they do it again.

I hope they get caught and correct there problem.

Pets and Animals / Re: Please Curb Your Dog!
« on: September 07, 2008, 02:26:59 PM »
Yesterday on my block (79th St btwn 37 & 35th) I stepped in dog poo and today again on 79th btwn 35th & 34th I stepped in dog poo again.  It appears to be from a large dog and it is Very fustrating that people who own pets still do not pick up after there dog?  I don't understand?  Buy a pooper scooper if you do not want to touch it!!  It seems to be a problem again.  Haven't people learned to pick up after there pets?

..........I know they say stepping in dog sh*t is good luck well, I"m not amused!!!!!!!! >:(

« on: July 03, 2008, 11:42:23 PM »
Have you tried "Big Boys" bar on 75th and 31st Avenue across from Danta's near the shopping center?  They have good wings there (or at least they did) I haven't been there in a long time!  Hey and from what I remember this is a good bar to hangout at and kick back but, its a long walk if you live near 37th Ave.

Pets and Animals / Utility Polls
« on: June 27, 2008, 11:57:49 PM »
I just wanted to let everyone know NOT to let there dogs sniff the "Utility Polls"  they can be dangerous and give your dog an electrical shock.  A friend of mine works for Co Edison and said Queens Utility polls give off electrical shocks often.  Just be careful.

My dog loves to sniff the polls but, I don't let him.  :'(

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Escape from Jackson Heights
« on: June 21, 2008, 01:47:45 PM »
My escape from JH in the summer is Breezy Point and Belle Harbor.  These are the beaches I like to go to. They aren't to far from JH's and they are kept up nicely.  For a longer drive,  I really enjoy Cape Cod to.

I also like to take a ride up to Westchester and Rockland County and drive around the different areas there.  I don't go that far away from home but, I do enjoy these areas.  There are many nice parks and restaurants to go to.

 :D

Neighborhood Chat / Re: Is Parking Really A Nightmare?
« on: May 24, 2008, 09:06:55 PM »
If you come home late at night after 10pm, good luck finding a spot.  You'll eventually find one but, it could take up to an hour and of course this depends the size of your car/SUV etc.  I live in the 70's between 37th & 35th Ave and it is very difficult to find a spot.  I would suggest (if you can) asking for parking spots in the neighborhood that people rent out.  It might be better for your Patience's.

Are they opening soon?  Is there an expected date?  It seems like it is taking a very long time to open?
