Sorry to bring up an old post; I wish I had only saw this sooner.
I was stupid enough to have just handed over my bills to an IDT salesman. After reading everyone's posts, I immediately called up the company to cancel; I was told there would be a 'block'. I then proceeded to call ConEd and have them set up a block on my account in order to prevent any unauthorized switching. Even having done so, I am still concerned as to what will happen. Names and addresses can be easily found within the phone book, but account numbers are a different story
I would like to ask what else I can do to make sure nothing goes wrong, and also what will happen now? Will there be any sort of damage done or some such? I apologize if I sound somewhat paranoid. :embarassed: Hopefully I won't have to worry about unsolicited mails or anything else after today...
