Steinway Restaurant
« on: April 17, 2008, 12:19:14 AM »
I've never heard of it before, but it sounds like Steinway Restaurant, located in East Elmhurst (opposite LaGuardia Airport) had a stellar night at the "Queens: A Taste of the World" event this week.

About Queens has a full report.

Has anybody tried this place?

Steinway Restaurant
Marriott New York LaGuardia Airport
102-05 Ditmars Blvd., East Elmhurst

todd, I never heard of this place nor I have ever seen it.  That's a fugly part of town so I can't imagine going there to dine.  Let someone more adventurous try it out first.
First, do no harm.

I just happened to look at Steinway Restaurant's lunch menu and noticed that they offer a Roosevelt Avenue Chicken Quesadilla for $10.00.  The dessert menu has an interesting item called a Caramel Apple Chubbie.  That's an adorable name.  Brown sugar custard swirled with apples and caramel in a pastry crust, topped with pecan streusel and more caramel for $5.50.  Hmm.....I may just have to be the guinea pig on this one.  I'm wondering if this is the kind of place that mostly travelers frequent or if it's a neighborhood restaurant.

Chuckster,  It is in the lobby of the hotel so I would assume guests make up a great deal of their business.  The pricing seems to be typical of hotels - high.

Yeah, I noticed that.  Come on Eddie....Caramel Chubbie is calling my name.  Hotel resto or not!   :2funny:  This must be a new addition to the hotel?  I've been in the lobby of that hotel and never saw the restaurant.

This gordito would never refuse anyone a "caramel chubbie".

I haven't been in the hotel in quite a few years.  Back in the 90's you could pay a reasonable annual fee and use their gym and pool.  I wonder if they still let you do that.  I am going to have to stop by the hotel and see what's new.

Does the Crown Plaza still have the buffets on Fridays and Saturday evenings and Sunday brunch? They were pretty good and reasonably priced. Also, came with free parking.  ;D

If there is a weekend buffet then enterprising JHLifers should go over and meet & eat - only if it is ALL you can eat  :2funny:

But, excuse me, what is a $10.00 Roosevelt Ave Chicken quesadilla?

ECG, alas...no buffet at Steinway Restaurant.  But they do have Caramel Chubbie!   ;D

Roosevelt Ave’s Chicken Quesadilla $10
Grilled Chicken, Jack and Cheddar Cheeses, Green Onions and Salsa

The quesadilla is listed as an appetizer.  The lunch entrees are more expensive.

The buffets at the Crown Plaza are all you can eat.
I will check with the hotel and get back to the boards with the info.

They were really pretty good. :D
