I just received a living social deal for a place called New Self Image in Jackson Heights. It's supposed to be a center that offers TRX, Zumba and Cardio Kickboxing among other things. The studio is located on 75th between Roosevelt and 37th.  Has anybody heard of it or been to check it out?  I will try to walk by in the next couple days and check it out.  So far, there's nothing on Yelp.  I've been going to SimplyFitAstoria for Cardio Kickboxing, but it would be awesome if there's a good local place to do the same :-).

I'm pretty sure my friend was going to this place and really liked it.  She doesn't go there anymore because she's trying to save money and work out at home, and also she didn't really live that close to it so it was a trek for her to get there.

I reviewed it in this thread:  http://www.jacksonheightslife.com/community/index.php?topic=7182.0
I haven't been back since they bought out Dance Studio 43 and expanded the offerings, but they probably have more classes now.  Overall, it's too expensive to go on a regular basis per month and the owner is a bit car salesman like.  I ended up at NYSC in Sunnyside because it's a better deal if you plan to go on a regular basis.  It's clean, they have showers and towels, really great classes, and good equipment.

Thanks Shelby2 and Daisy.  I guess I'll check it out with the Living Social deal and see how it is.  It would be nice to have something within walking distance for a change.

Just passed this new sign on the way home tonight. Its on Northern blvd eastbound, right before the GCP. Checked online, email bounced back, left a message on Facebook. Will call if no answer by tomorrow morning. Kind of was avoiding any telephone high pressure tactics.   :-\

If Sunnyside can have a NYSC, Jackson Heights should have one too.

Brook Lynn,
I just remembered that MiMi's across from Met Foods has Zumba and Marsala Bhangra classes. No machines of course, but convenient at 37th and 76th.

A question: Both Mandy's and Blockbuster on Northern Blvd between 78 and 79 Streets are out of business. That combined space would be a great location for a health club.  Does anyone know how to go about recruiting either a Planet Fitness or NY Sports Club?  I think the neighborhood could support either or both.  Thanks

Thanks for the info Jeanette!
I actually gave in and went back to Crossfit in Astoria. It's only a 7 minute drive, so really not bad at all.

When I joined the NYSC in Sunnyside, I mentioned more than once that this community has no sports clubs options and that NYSC would do well to open a branch here.  She said I wasnt' the first person to say so and that there were a lot of JH residents at the club.  I even submitted the request on their website.
