Japanese, yes Japanese - Good Japanese nearby
« on: October 09, 2012, 10:39:22 AM »
2 new Japanese places nearby (though not JH).

Takesushi in Sunnyside. I reaaaallly like this place. Authentic. Old guy runs the place who used to have restaurants in manhattan. he lives down the street and thought he should open up nearby. Not just sushi, but cooked food and daily specials. Prices are decent for good Japanese food, but not close to the $1 places. We are very lucky to have him here, and he deserves a lot of business. Located on 42nd street just north of Queens Blvd.

Another I haven't tried yet is Samurai Boy on Grand in Elmhurst. I have good expectations for the ramen here because they have a sister restaurant in the city, terakawa, which I believe is the one in hell's kitchen - which I am a fan of. The only drawback is that the seating is quite limited there.

I've been having late lunch on a regular basis at nearby Tomo's here in JH's.  The have a daily lunch special that's a bargain.  Great service and nice atmosphere.  They serve lunch until 4PM.  A glass of wine or bottle beer is just $4.
