So even after going out of my way to say that MY complaint was not specifically about WHOSE parade it was, YOU still felt compelled and entitled to put out your subtle charge of racism. I guess white folk aren't entitled to an opinion about quality of life issues in Jackson Heights, regardless of how many years we've lived here. My bad... I'll just take this opportunity to apologize for single-handedly gentrifying the neighborhood too. Perhaps I should consider going back to where I came from... Woodside.
Mr. Grey.
I apologize. I didn't really mean to imply that you personally were being racist. And I believe I expressed my sympathy in the beginning about how hard it is to live in an area like Jackson Heights. What I was trying to imply was that if this was a 4th of July parade or a veterans parade this might never have been an issue. However, when a group of people work for many years to reach this goal, after having been denied for so many years - its kind of hard to see people complaining that they have to deal with another parade.
The police were actually very happy with our event, the noise level was moderate, our dancers and our people on the sidelines were polite and calm and there was very minimal clean up required after we were done. They told us that they wished more parades were as uneventful and as colorful as ours. Once again, my apologies. I love Jackson Heights, I am from Sunnyside myself.
