is fear mongering not against the rules of our board? if not, the board should at least get some campaign cash.

and definitely remember that it's a bad idea to rely on a 200-word piece -- even if it's exclusive -- in the NYPost for serious political info.

fear mongering?
Are you kidding?

We have to be informed voters. Even a 200 word news item carries some consideration.

What if a pit bull is attacking a child?  Could I use pepper spray to prevent the child's death if this law were passed?  Maybe not, if pepper spray is defined as a chemical weapon in this bill.

What about my car's battery?  It has acid in it.  Technically the acid could be used as a weapon.  Can I then not have a battery in my car?  Nail polish remover?  If misused, it could be a chemical weapon.

Perhaps these were some of the questions that were raised and not answered fully when the bill came up and perhaps that's why he voted against it.  The article does say that "the senator felt that chemical and biological weapons were not strictly enough defined."

I see no reason why NY State should be dictating anti-terrorism law that does not agree with federal law.  Let the feds take care of this and let states stay out of it, especially when there may be poorly-thought-out bills that can reach our state senators, and then the senators get vilified for voting against them.

Yes, please do think about this before you vote. This post frames the situation to seem that Eric Schneiderman wants terrorists to have chemical or biological weapons, and that is simply not true. The article also states that "He sided with the New York Civil Liberties Union, which argued that antiterrorism policy should be set at the federal level." To insinuate Eric Schneiderman wants terrorists to have weapons of this kind, because of his vote, is pure propaganda. I encourage everyone to look deeper into his vote and see what the reasoning really is. Don't buy into talking points.

Here is why I will be voting for Eric tomorrow:
He is strongly Pro-Choice, Pro-Wall-Street Regulation, Pro-Social Justice, Pro-Environmental Justice, Pro-Marriage Equality and Women's and Minority Rights, not to mention Pro-Interdependence as a matter of principle. His Republican opponent is running with a seemingly very racist, sexist and wealthy Tea-Partier, and Eric's opponent is  personally Anti-Choice, doesn't want to regulate Wall Street corruption, and is against Equal Rights for the LGBT community.
He has worked hard for progressive justice and a truly interdependent set of government policies, from repealing the horrible Rockefeller Drug laws to supporting the LGBT community and Marriage equality to Health Care Reform to actually trying to tax multimillionaires at something approaching a fair rate of contribution.

However, please don't take my (or earbears') word for it. Look up the facts and make your decision for yourself!
