I found the perfect crepe to appeal to both CRABBYPATTY and JH_AB and it's called a mesa crepe filled with ingredients which are very similar to a pollos cemita but with a few changes and presto a cemita crepe!  The crepe itself is made with a touch of cornmeal which would impart a slight corny crunch hummmmmmmmm sounds great.  Unfortunately at this point you folks out there will have to rattle some pans in the kitchen to enjoy this creation unless CRABBYPATTY or JH_AB would be interested in getting their own cart.  How does the name Crepes Cantina sound?

hands down, coatzingo on roosevelt/76th has the best in the neighborhood.

i favor the al pastor (pork), but the carnitas (beef) is very good as well.

i ask for spicy in order to get the chipotle chiles. they're not all that hot, and you can pick them off if you find you don't like.

enjoy :)

I totally agree my favorite cemita there is the pollos milanesa which is a breaded chicken cutlet with refried beans, mexican white cheese, chipotle peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato and avocado and they deliver....If you like nachos try their nachos texanos made with grilled steak!   ;)

Carnitas is actually pork - and heavenly - but if you go kosher or halal, it's not for you...

oh shoot, you are probably right about coatzingo, julie...carnitas is theoretically a catch all 'meat chunks' but i believe you are correct about what's used at TC.

sorry!

I thought carnitas was beef as well...the BEST tasting beef actually.  Well now we know carnitas is pig and I LOVE PIG!!!  IMO pork is the tastiest of all the meats and really who can't say that the smell of bacon frying isn't the most amazing smell in the world!!
