Banning salt in restaurants
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:28:34 PM »
Did anyone else see the ludicrous law being proposed by a NYC politician.  He wants to ban the use of any salt in NYC restaurants.  I really think that the amount of laws that are proposed are ridiculous.  Taxing soda purchases by a penny or two per ounce -  now this.  Why can't we let people take personal responsibility for eating or drinking what they want.  What happens next  - I can buy a slice of pizza but if I want it with pepperoni I have to pay a $1.00 tax because it is unhealthy?  I think so many laws that are created are so  absurd.  I think it drives people and business from the city.

This situation is truly scary where will it stop?  I'm a grown woman and if I want some salt or sugary drinks I shouldn't be punished for it.  :tickedoff:  It's all about big government trying to control our lives!  Some of my friends who are parents of young children ban candy and soda and I have seen how these children act when they attend a birthday party where these forbidden foods are served they're like crazed animals shoving candy in their mouths and pockets and swilling down the soda whereas the children that aren't banned from sweets are quite relaxed and unfazed.  I guess it's that old forbidden fruit theory.  My son, on the other hand grew up with gummy bears, sugary cereals and soda and enjoyed them and miraculously today he is a normal man who rarely eats candy, loves whole grain cereals and prefers water or seltzer over soda.  Go figure!
One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching.

Although I have never inhaled salt, I recognize the right of others to inhale it freely.  :)

Ooops, sorry, still political mode .. LOL!

I see the potential here for salt shakers in disguise. A ring like the Medici's had, pendants, secret compartments in big watches.
Go with me here, folks. I want to hear other ideas.

Which crazy politician. Don't tell me he/she was from Queens. Please!!!

WHEN THE "SIN TAX' CAME OUT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CAME OUT AND SAID IT!!!!

If you allow this to pass it will soon go further.  It has been an uphill battle, lost, IT will continue to be lost until we all realize that WE CANNOT ALLOW - and I believe these liberals will continue to abuse our rights..continue to tax...special interest hidding behind the democratic flag.  This is no longer a Democrat Vs Republican...this is "lets tax those who have the least politically power, voice, muscle "
 :'(
WAKE UP!!!

the salt thing is clearly insane...but it's not a liberal versus conservative issue (and most of the others are clearly not a republcan versus democrat thing, since king bloomberg is both -- and every party in between) :)

I love that line.  I call him the Emperor myself ... it's like he seized the Senate in aillegal bid to power, have we learned from Star Wars!

Across the board Taxes are fiscally responsible and that's a whole different issue.  Special interest driven, targeted taxes are just plain wrong.  Tax environmentally offensive manufacturing, tax imported beverages and luxury foods across the board that may decrease employment in the US and territories.   Yes - You are right about "Flavor of the day" Bloomberg - ONLY THING I LIKE ABOUT HIM IS HIS MONEY   :D
