Looking to adopt a young dog
« on: November 24, 2009, 02:44:09 PM »
hello,

My family and I are looking to adopt a young dog (less than 1 year) and would like to visit a shelter in Queens that does not require a car to get to. Since my kids are 5 and 2, prefer a place that won't be scary for the little one. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

It's not in Queens, but Bide-a-wee in Manhattan is easy to reach by the 7 train, and their meet-and-greet room is anything but scary. It's where we got our (great) puppy!

Petfinder.com has many animals with links to shelters in Queens.  You can also try the ASPCA on 92nd St in Manhattan.   Also, Mighty Mutts has many dogs for adoption on weekends at Union Square - http://mightymutts.tripod.com/frame.html

Good luck!

Animal care and control in Manhattan and Brooklyn have tons of small and big dogs. They are dying at a fast rate due to over crowding, please take a look at their website and if you were interested, call or go there asap. The dogs do not get much time.

Also if you lost your dog, please check there as well, all dogs are reported and brought to the ACC when they are found.
