Anyone have any healthy recipes
« on: February 24, 2010, 06:36:35 PM »
I've been trying to cook/eat healthy and sometimes it becomes a challenge (especially with kids) I tweak my normal recipes with lowfat options or substitutions. Anyone have any good healthy recipes/ideas? thanks

For a cold snowy night or morning and with kids in the house, cook 1 minute oatmeat with some dark brown suger stirred in, scoop into bowls and add chopped strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, add 1 percent milk.  If the kids still want sweeter, sprinkle a little brown sugar on top. Healthy for the whole family, even for dinner in my opinion.

To eat healthy, eat simple.

Always keep berries in the house. Add them to cereal, salads, cake, ice cream, or eat out of the hand and with cheese and baguette. Place them in your peanut butter sandwiches, and cook them down into a jam if they're getting old. Make smoothies or juice drinks, even use as a sangria ingredient.

Then ditch the factory-made vitamins. One of the best quotes about eating healthy, if it's a plant, eat it, if it's made in a plant, don't.

I do take a few vitamins (dr prescribed) but use to take a daily arsenal. I do try to eat every color of the rainbow and actually I enjoy almost all vegetables. I also try to "sneak" them in things like sauce etc. Im not all that into berries but I do know blueberries are suppose to be the best for you.
