How about renaming it Road-Lie. Involve registered pedestrians who will lie down in the space in order to save it for someone?

Hi,

I have not read the article, but I do employ a college student a few hours a week to park my car in the mornings.  It saves me time, aggravation and it gives someone else the opportunity to make a few bucks.

I'm sure that there are some that are unemployed in our community that could use a couple of bucks a week to provide this service.

Best,   :smiley6600:

Dear Marlene,

That is the most innovative and realistic idea I've heard in a long time. Bravo!

Yes, my joking idea of someone to lie on the unswept street might have been funny (to me at least),
but Very impractical.

Wouldn't this plan get a bit too involved?  Do insurance companies have to be kept up-to-date on who may be driving your car...even if it's only for a limited time?

Here's another social networking app that's been developed by a Manhattan resident in his quest to try and tackle parking issues in his Inwood neighborhood.  This iPhone app has actually been approved by Apple and appears to have similar goals as the Park Slope networking site I mentioned above.  It also may have the same problems...what happens if more than one person shows up to claim an available parking spot?  The app's developer states, "The hope is to build a sense of community."  Hmmmm... Will that happen when two or more people fight over a parking space?  I haven't checked the app, but I hope this potential issue has been worked out.
