Then off to SJA, because IS 145 was all we had, and it was way to violent and substandard of a school

No, at least I don't think so. The "mini school" was demolished when 145 expanded the main building to almost double its original size, maybe even more than double.

OMG i hated that "chicken coop".  i remember having to walk from the main building the mini building in horrible weather.  during the summer, it was extremely hot being that it was many an aluminum building.  2 years after graduating they began construction on the new building which merged into the original building.

WHen I was there we didn't mind the mini school in the summer, because it had air conditioning : )

Anyone on this board attended Garden School Circa late 1960's up to mid 1970's?  Although many of my friends went to Bryant and Newtown, after I attended IS145 the first year they had 6th grade, my parents were irritated with the public schools and made me attend private.  While I had some happy memories, looking back, I think I would have preferred a larger less elitist high school.  Today, many of my friends have attended huge high school reunions.  Because Garden was so small, there have been no orginized reunions to speak of since the early 1980's.  I feel that I missed out.....Anita

I also went to PS69, 145 and Bryant.  I remember Mrs. Fay,Mrs Higgins (made me cry every day), Mrs. Dollinger, Mrs. Scheid and Mr Blacher in PS69....I don't remember any of my 145 teachers.  The schools were special back then.

I attended Garden school for 1st through 3rd grade in the early-to-mid 1970s (I even still have those annual books they put out somewhere).  Went to 69 for 4th and 5th, and then 145 (yes, the mini building ... they painted dragons on it when I was there, to make it look more homey ... all we cared about was that it was a school we could dent).

But yeah, those were special times growing up in the neighborhood.

Whoa, Lastoria was there in 69 til the 90s??  Sorry for the double post but that shocked me .. he was volitile when I had him in 79-80, I figured he wouldn't last.  He used to chuck chalk at the kids when we were talking.  He sent to me to Mr. Steinberg (the principal then) almost every day, saying I was unteachable, and wrote on my report card that I was "lost adrift in a sea of knowledge" or something like that.

Is that what is was called ? There's a post some where on here from way way back. Apparently it's official names is Model Park. But either way, yes. I spent a few days there during junior HS.
